I was hoping for a new Hardline album since I fancy Johnny Gioeli’s voice and also like the band’s back catalogue – especially the debut. Hardline is more of a project… it has always been but that doesn’t hold back the musicians and the songwriters that are participating in it to deliver wonderful melodic tunes. Since, Joey Gioeli (guitar – original member) is not part of the project for years… Hardline’s business has been mostly taken care of by Frontiers president Serafino.

This time, it was the songwriter and producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge Of Forever) who started writing songs for the album. Johnny liked what he listened to and decided to give it a shot… although he had thoughts of letting it go. Right after the new line-up was featuring Francesco Jovino (UDO) on drums, Thorsten Kohene (Code Of Perfection, Eden’s Curse) on guitars, Anna Portalupi (Mitch Malloy) on bass and Alessandro Del Vecchio on keys & backing vocals. Couldn’t have done it better right?!

The album is well-produced and contains some very beautiful melodic rock tunes & ballads… probably it’s the more consistent piece of melodic rock/AOR music Frontiers has released this year so far. Johnny’s performances are just fantastic… he’s truly one very talented & also underrated singer in melodic rock/hard rock scene. Alessandro has also done a very good job… as the songs do have strong refrains and are very nicely orchestrated. Highlights are: “Fever Dreams”, “10.000 Reasons”, “Stronger Than Me” (Johnny pushed it to the top huh!), “Never Too Late for Love”, “Stay”, “Look At You Now” (my personal favorite), “Please Have Faith in Me” & “The Only One”. If you’re looking for tasteful melodic rock/AOR music with wonderful vocals and catchy tunes then this album is what you’re looking for. “Danger Zone” is, undoubtedly, the band’s strongest album since the debut…
