Tropical Fuck Storm is Gareth Liddiard (vocals/guitar), Fiona Kitschin (bass), Lauren Hammel (drums) and Erica Hung (guitar). The band released their debut, “A Laughing Death in Meatspace”, to worldwide acclaim, with Australia’s Double J saying the album is “filled with the sort of acerbic wit only Gareth Liddiard can muster, this is the most essential, moody, pulverising, funny, off-key, venomous Antipodean post punk album of the year”. The UK’s Guardian newspaper called the nine-track release “a glorious detour into deconstructed rock music, reflective of social malaise and unafraid to tell it like it is”. U.S. outlets praised the release, with Slate saying the outfit sound “like the Mekons under assault by both Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band and a sentient PlayStation”, adding “Tropical Fuck Storm radiates a vitality I would follow anywhere, very much at my own risk”.
