Linkin Park - One More Light

I will admit to never really liking Linkin Park’s homogenous and hermaphrodite style caught between pop, rap, rock and a hard place… the band really losing all traction since 2010, with their popularity on the decrease and sales slumping, tries to go full on pop, with a bit of rap, further trimming down on rock elements and tuning everything up… the result is LP’s most plastic and pop album.
“Nobody Can Save Me” is a very safe and subdued opener, something you could hear in a teen movie, during the sappier moments. Teen angst by 40 year old men? Nah, won’t buy into that.

Peekaboo Primate - Misanthropical

Peekaboo Primate, quite a whacky name, and their music ain’t a laughing matter either as their eccentric alt-metal borrows equally from Faith No More and System Of a Dawn and who knows what else. It’s just starts and stops randomly changing the beat quite freakishly… well there’s obvious modernism here and while everyone will be quick to brand the odd rhythms, jazz inspired, this is a little too “common”.

Bonz - Broken Silence

I’m sure the name Stuck Mojo is familiar to those who fancy the alternative, rap-metal & hip-hop sound of the early 90s. That band is considered to be one of the pioneers of the rap-metal sound back in the day but apart from the numerous fans they have, they also have many haters. That’s the thing with “weird” acts that become popular.
