Auri is basically a trio, which features Finnish singer Johanna Kurkela along with Tuomas Holopainen and Troy Donockley from Nightwish. It’s basically, a distraction from the “dayjob” and for the most part some nice “choral” ideas that could just be wasted – since most of them seem hardly compatible with what Nightwish has turned into, so they take a life of their own in this conceptual album.

Auri was born when three friends united through their shared need to hear a kind of a music which can‘t be described by words alone: a magical kind of sound to be heard whilst falling down Alice’s rabbit hole.

Long time favourites of the late, great John Peel, David Gedge and his band appeared regularly on that legendary presenter’s BBC Radio 1 show and have continued their association with “Auntie” by performing many unforgettable sessions on the popular “Marc Riley Show” on BBC Radio 6 Music.
Due to the popularity of these sessions, The Wedding Present, in conjunction with Hatch Records and the BBC, have joined forces to produce a trilogy of releases featuring every momentous track performed for Marc’s award-winning show over a ten-year period.

To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Elliott Smith’s best-selling and greatly beloved album, “Either/Or”, UMC are releasing “Either/Or: Expanded Edition”, on March 10th, 2017, on 2CD and digital, with a 2LP following on May 19th, 2017.

“Either/Or: Expanded Edition” features the original tracks carefully remastered from original tapes under the supervision of Larry Crane. The second disc features five live multi-track recordings from the Yo Yo A Go Go Festival in Olympia WA in 1997, as well as three previously unreleased studio recordings and one B-side gem.
