Dan Reed Network, FM and Gun live in London 2019

It’s a frosty winter evening in the Big Smoke, but the temperature is about to be turned up to eleven as Gun, FM, and the Dan Reed Network roll into town with their Big 3-0 Tour. Playing their debut albums in full for their 30th Anniversary, they have been filling venues up and down the country.

Taking the line-up in turns, Gun we’re up first, and played a raucous set which included a few extra hits, like their brilliant cover of “Word Up”, which got the crowd waving their hands and dancing about the venue as they laid down that funky groove. Closing on a rousing cover of the Beastie Boys “Fight for Your Right”, the Gizzi brothers were certainly on fire, and the chemistry between the members of the band was infectious. After pounding out song after sound, they really worked up the crowd and set the stage for the rest of the night.
Gun setlist:

The Feeling Within
Something to Believe In

FM took to the stage to the loud cheers and applause of the crowd. Diving straight into their set we were treated to a consummate performance. Transporting us back to 1989 with hit after hit, you quickly realise how successful FM were in that era. Putting on an absolute masterclass in stage performance, the band built on the energy created by Gun, and treated us to the very best in AOR.

What can I say about Dan Reed that hasn't been said before? By the time he took to the stage, the venue was absolutely buzzing, and he took things to another level. If you thought the place was hopping before, this is when it literally went off the hook. The place was in an absolutely frenzy. It’s great to see how much fun the band has on stage together, and the crowd just fed off the energy they were creating and vice versa. This is a band that really knows how to put on a show, and the rest of the night took on a real party atmosphere. As the night drew on, the energy of the room grew, until it could barely be contained by the incredible encore. After that the Shepherd’s Bush Empire was absolutely groaning thanks to the simply mind-blowing performance by the band.

It’s not every day that you get to go to a triple bill co-headline event like this, and the bands certainly did not disappoint. There was something for every fan of rock music on offer tonight and it was spectacular. Do yourself a favour and catch one of the dates of the tour before it finishes on the 21st of December at the legendary Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom.
