Enforcer - Death by Fire

I’ve said several things about that 80s revival movement that we’re facing during the last few years, but I’ll say one thing that’s important about the whole thing. We all love the 80s heavy metal… but seeing young bands copying the looks and the music of that era is not appealing at all. Of course, there are a number of bands which have something to say, like Enforcer, but their whole attitude and music approach do not flatter them at all.

Alpha Tiger - New album details & free song

Germany's ALPHA TIGER are living proof for the fact that traditional heavy metal does not necessarily need to be created by elderly people and the band's hard-hitting second album (and Century Media debut) "Beneath The Surface" kicks rusty rockers out of their wheelchairs with its remarkably fresh take on early Helloween and Queensryche - perfect metal pleasure guaranteed!

Enforcer - Cover artwork & tracklist revealed

Today also the cover artwork of “Death By Fire” will be released. Olof Wikstrand comments it like this: "The cover is drawn by our long time friend Jonathan Hulten of Necromantic Art. It captures pretty much everything we wanted from a cover. Simple and direct"!

Lost Society signs with Nuclear Blast

Thrash is not dead – and the youngsters of Lost Society are living proof of it! Founded in early 2010 by thrash/speed metal enthusiast Samy Elbanna in the Finnish town of Jyväskylä, the front man gathered an ensemble of passionate allies around him to establish a band that soon should become known as the most energetic newcomer combo Scandinavia had seen in years.

Midas Touch - Presage Of Disaster reissue out in November

Unlike San Francisco, New York City and Germany, Sweden was never quite the hotbed for thrash activity in the '80s, but there was one band that made plenty of “Noise” with their first demo tape, "Ground Zero". The self-released cassette from Uppsala’s MIDAS TOUCH rapidly made its way through trading circles and as such attracted attention from a prominent German metal label Noise Records. The label that counted acts like Helloween, Vendetta and Coroner on their storied roster, eventually signed Midas Touch on the strength of their demo.

Dead On - Same Titled reissue out in November

Long Island’s DEAD ON took a major risk and decided to self-finance the recording of what would become their debut album, Dead On. Enlisting top producer, Roger Probert (Fates Warning, Loudness) the band record their album independently hoping to land a deal. They landed a deal quickly and at the behest of their new label, mixing engineer and industry heavyweight, Max Norman was brought in to finish the album.

Opeth - Heritage

This is, hopefully, the tenth album for the Swedish metallers. The band has changed its musical style through the years and the “Mikael Akerfeldt & co.” is now moving in a whole new music path. If I can recall… they said years ago (Mikael did) that they would never lose that extreme metal elements and the brutal vocals.
