Crematory - Unbroken

It’s hard for me to consider several of the newer albums by Crematory, since they’re a band I was actually able to follow from their very early steps up to a certain point where I largely gave up on them only listening to their newer albums by chance or to review them. The long standing Germans, that will have been around for thirty years next year, have rather recently suffered the exit of several member, by now, leaving only singer Felix and the Jüllich couple (drums and keys), as original members.

Crematory to release new studio album “Unbroken” on March 6th 2020

Welcome to the panopticon of darkness: German gothic pioneers Crematory continue to perform the tightrope act in the somber void with their brand new first single, “The Downfall”, along with an artful black and white lyric video.

The first single introduces not just a new chapter, but prepares fans for their upcoming fifteenth album, “Unbroken”, to be released on March 6th, 2020, via Napalm Records.

Crematory signs with Napalm Records

German metal legends Crematory join forces with Napalm Records!

One of the pioneering acts of the fertile European goth metal scene in the 1990s, Crematory began as a strict death metal unit in 1991 before adding goth and industrial elements into their arsenal. In their 28 year long career, the band, centered around original members Markus Jüllich and Felix Stass, released 14 studio albums, three live albums, various compilations and splits, played hundreds of shows around the globe and they are still hungry for more.

Crematory - Monument

In their long career that extends all the way back to the early 90s, these Germans have come up with 12 studio albums, with this one being the 13th, as well as a few live ones and a few compilations as well.

The point is that following the exit of their guitarist Lothar “Lotte” Först in the late 90s, the band took a radical step from being a melodic death metal band with gothic aspirations to a more EBM/Gothic/Experimental sort of band. They did come to a hiatus early in the millennium but then continued with their “new” sound producing as many experimental albums as they did goth-death.
