SURPRISE OF JANUARY 2006

PLATITUDE
“SILENCE SPEAKS”
(Metal Heaven)

The second work of this Swedish band, which was titled “Nine”, really took us all by surprise here at Grande-Rock.com in 2004. So, we were more than anxious to see the evolution of this band. It seems that we were not the only that were surprised by the band’s previous album but also the guy at Metal Heaven where he made a very smart move and made a deal with this very promising band.

“Silence Speaks” picks up from where “Nine” was left, but this time Platitude have evolved not only as musicians but also as songwriters. The band has a more personal and recognizable sound now and all their influences (from heavy metal, prog, melodic rock) are been very well mixed up under their personal stigma. The production is awesome as well and to be honest Tommy Hansen has once more done a great job and has helped Platitude to show all of their talent here. As, I have said thousands times in the past the third album of a band is like a barometer and shows whether the band can go on or not… Platitude can definitely go on… the journey may not be easy but trust me, they have all the potentials to make it an easy one. It’s on their hand now… they can only choose if they want to reach to the top or no… they can but they must prove it… that’s the difficult part of the game.

I totally believe that this album is one of the best heavy melodic prog releases of this year so, don’t you even think to let it go by unnoticed. It will grab your interest with each listening and in the end you will love it. That’s exactly what happened to me and now I cannot even get it out of my CD-player! If I had to choose the best songs of this album then, hardly, I would choose: “Tell The Truth”, “Nobody’s Hero”, “Silence Speaks”, “Empty Inside”, “Fear (It’s Not Over)”, “Don’t Be Afraid”, “Falling Down”, “After The Storm”, “Walk With Me” and “You”… but that’s only my point of view… on the other hand… it’s impossible to find an average song here… this album simply smokes!!
