SURPRISE OF AUGUST 2006

UFYCH SORMEER
“CRAZY MIDDLE AGES CYBORGS”

(Holy Records)

Here we have something unique! Ufych Sormeer come from
France and they exist for almost ten years (they’ve been formed in 1997) and they have also released one album. “Crazy MAC” is the second release of the band and as they claim there’s no musical connection between the two releases. The crazy thing here is that the French band is offering something “extra-ordinary”! If I was to name the “biggest surprise” of the year (and maybe of the last few years) then I would definitely choose this album. These French guys are completely “crazy”… and the more I get into their music the more I become a “crazy follower”! This album is not only the big surprise of the year but also is the answer to all those who complain that there are no good bands out there that separate themselves from the past and they do not follow the big bands of the past… in few words… if you think that no band can offer you something truly new and groundbreaking then you haven’t listened to Ufych Someer yet… and that’s a miss!

How can I give the musical stigma of this album? It’s almost impossible, so instead I’ll try to give you a small description of what you are going to experience by listening to this album. Well, better be prepared to experience many music kinds under an original stigma that has occurred by the good chemistry of the band’s members. Heavy, speed/thrash music along with electronic (not that much), atmospheric breaks and progressive attitude in all songs. I’m sure that I confused you even more. I’m sorry but I cannot do better than this… blame it on the band, not me! Take Metallica’s power (Black album era), the craziness of Moahni Moahna and SOD (not musically), the progressiveness of Dream Theater, some EBM/electro elements and the atmospheric passages of Bal-Sagoth and put them together in a mix… the result is Ufych Sormeer! If you still can’t get any idea of this band then please do a favour to yourself and buy this terrific album… you will be totally surprised. Every time that you will listen to it you will explore a little more of the band’s crazy fantasy! If this only the beginning, then “I’m afraid” that this band has all the potential to go even bigger than of some of the aforementioned bands. I’m sure that now your “hunger” is growing… so go out and bite them if you dare!
