SURPRISE OF APRIL 2004

ENTWINE
“DIEVERSITY”

(Spinefarm Records)

Well, in spite the fact that this review should have been on line some months earlier, I think that the fans of Entwine will be really happy with the latest release of the Finnish gothic metal band. Now almost two years after “Time Of Despair”, Entwine are back with “DiEversity” and they do not let us down at all. More dynamic in this album, but always with the known melancholic and dark feeling, “DiEversity” is captivating in its beauty, movingly emotional and above all heavy!

I think that the band finally found the perfect music style and the new ten tracks will satisfy not only their fans but they will seduce even more. I must say that all the songs have something different and something in common, it’s weird but the sound of this band has something unique. If you listen to the album you will understand what I mean and will surely love songs like “Someone To Blame” which is very dynamic, also “Six Feet Down Below” a song with really dark meaning, “Bleeding For The Cure” will surely touch a deeper part of you. Other remarkable songs are “Frozen By The Sun” (one of my favorites) a song of regret and faith, or “Nothing’s For Ever”. The lyrics in the most of the songs sound very personal and they left me with the impression that they came up after a lot of painful personal process. Something that I really like to this band, is that the lyrics have always something important to say.

The production is once again excellent and that’s easy to explain it as the album was recorded at the famed Finnish Astia-Studios, the birthplace of such albums as Children of Bodom’s “Hate Crew Deathroll” and To/Die/For’s “Jaded”… Finishing touches for “DiEversity” were added at Finnvox studios by Mikko Karmilla (he also worked with Nightwish, Charon and others). Well, personally I consider this album better than the previous one and as one of the best that I have listened since the last months. Fans of gothic metal…you should have this album in your collection!! Hurry up!
