It is true that sometimes (although those times are very few) if though you are waiting something more from a band, that band might give you more things than you ever expected or even wanted! Now you may wonder why I'm telling you those things. Well, the answer I believe is so simple. Soilwork shows the future of heavy melodic metal music! Their previous work "Natural Born Chaos" was an excellent album and as you can imagine the whole metal community was waiting for their next step to see if they can produce a better album than their previous one. And just believe me they managed to do something, that for other bands is unbelievable and far away from their imagination! "Figure Number Five" combines many things together such as modern rhythms, extraordinary melodies, brilliant lead and rhythm guitar work from both Wichers and Frenning and outstanding vocal harmonies. Strid's vocals sometimes are full of anger and hate and other times are so melodically and so heavenly, and that is the thing that you are going to love in Soilwork's songs. The change between anger and melody! Just listen to songs like the magnificent "Rejection Role", the smart "Light The Torch", the extra-melodic "Departure Plan (which I believe that is the highlight of the album), the "strange" "Overload", the powerful "The Mindmaker" and the terrific "Distortion Sleep" and you will get straight to the point. Not that the other songs of the album are less good that those that I refer to. The whole result is dynamite! Well, I think that "Figure Number Five" is the best album of Soilwork till now! This band has a golden future ahead. Let's hope that they continue to do the right steps and I'm sure that the whole metal scene will bow to them! Admirable album!!!
