Savage Messiah
Plague Of Conscience
Earache
2012
7.5/10
Having the band’s two previous releases (“Spitting Venom”-2007 & “Insurrection Rising”-2009) on mind, it’s clear that this UK heavy/trash metal moniker is evolving with each new album… by adding new elements to its music from all the metal genres. Becoming more melodic with every new release… they don’t lose their heaviness… neither have they forgotten their thrash roots… but all those influences are nicely blended with some power metal and heavy/speed/prog elements… presenting the evolution and the more mature musical character of the band throughout the years. And believe me, 5 years is a very short time period for a band to evolve in such a way and deliver something that’s not totally burning bridges with their past, then it obviously indicates the band’s new musical direction.

“Plague Of Conscience” is a very powerful and heavy produced album… the guys have worked with Scott Atkins (Cradle of Filth, Gama Bomb) once again… and the result is simply terrific. Influenced by bands such as: Judas Priest, Megadeth, Nevermore, Testament, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Arch Enemy, Darkology… while being talented and inspired … they managed to release their best and most complete album so far. Songs like: “Plague Of Conscience”, “Six Feet Under The Gun” (what a splendid guitar riff), “Carnival of Souls”, “In Thought Alone”, “All Seeing I”, “Architects Of Fear” and “Mask Of Anarchy”(an awesome heavy/thrash/prog tune) will leave you no second thoughts of this album and will make your head bang!

Those who are following the band since its beginning will be excited with this album… as for those who do not known them yet… but like the aforementioned bands and heavy/thrash music in general… or cannot distinguish any new band that’s worth listening to… then Savage Messiah will change your mind entirely after listening to “Plague Of Conscience”.

PS: The band was brave enough (along with the help of its label) to give the album almost 2 months before its original release date, FREE from the label’s site. That’s truly surprising… and we are about to see if this action will help the band’s sales or not in the very end. The album is already out at a very low price (about 10 euros-with shipping included- that’s the price that all labels should sell their CDs if they want people to get them-except from the special editions that should be 2-3 euros more) and it will also be available as a limited edition colored vinyl!
