Saint Asonia formed in 2014 with Adam Gontier (Three Days Grace), Mike Mushok (Staind), Rich Beddoe (Finger Eleven) and Corey Lowery (Eye Empire). The post-grunge super-group released their first studio album, “Saint Asonia”, this past July.

The new release doesn’t provide anything that hasn’t been done before, but it doesn’t need to be groundbreaking. The release is straight forward rock and roll, with well written lyrics, gritty vocals and infectious riffs. The eleven track record has its share of heavy rock tunes, but there are also a few ballads thrown into the mix, all of which are well done. Most songs cover the topics of love, love lost and moving forward in life.

From the first track to the last, “Saint Asonia” is a solid release that doesn’t break any new ground, but what it does, it does very well. If you are looking for an album to play while sitting back and having a few beers give this a listen. It would be perfect for such a moment.
