Well sometimes we see mixtures… that are actually weird. You get a band under the name of Rocking Corpses… and an album entitled “Rock N’ Rott”… what’s the first thing that will come to your mind honestly? I was curious… and thought…”hey this is gonna be bizarre… but how bizarre in fact”?!
Rocking Corpses were formed in Finland in 2007 by Tony D. K. (vocals, guitars). A few months later Leper Laze (vocals, bass) joined and the line-up was completed. Due to the band’s mastermind, Tony, love for horror rock, death metal, zombies, black humor & bluesy rock music… the idea to create a genre blending all those elements… became a reality under the name of “Rock N’ Rott”. How does it sound huh? Of course, some of you may find it interesting… as a sound… some others may find it gut-wrenching… and a few (very few I think) will smile evilly and enjoy that odd amalgam of horror death metal with a rock background. The vocals are clean as well as very brutal death ones. The production is good… although, I think, it could have been a little more dynamic.
I am truly not fond of the death metal growls so much… and I think that this mixture is not as “evolutionary” or exciting as one might consider when they first come across it. It’s well-played though and has some fine ideas here and there… but overall it cannot steal your attention. They do sound better when the death growls are absent… for example listen to “925”. Now I’m sure that some metal/rock genres cannot be blended together… can’t you tell…?
