Presenting the Problem
Indie Recordings

6/10
Coming from Norway… Ribozyme are not playing extreme music… as many may think but rather a mix of had rock, atmospheric and alternative music. They’ve been around since 1998 and they have released 5 full-length albums, including the new one “Presenting the Problem”.

The new album is not far away from what they tend to deliver so far… as they once again embellish had rock & alternative music with atmospheric and industrial elements. Influenced by bands such as: Tool, Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains & Faith No More among others… they manage to put their own personality in their music… making it a bit more contemporary. The production is also sort of edgy and powerful.

What is missing from this album so as to make it truly interesting and devastating is the more stimulating & decent songwriting… as all the songs are just OK; they do not offer something extra to make them separate from the thousands other songs that are being released by thousands of rock bands every day. They are kind of generic and ordinary. As expected, there some nice moments on “Presenting the Problem” like “Over The Galvanized” but they‘re not enough to rise the overall result in any case.
