Kissin’ Dynamite
Money, Sex & Power
AFM Records
2012
5/10
This is the third release for the German sleaze/glam rockers Kissin’ Dynamite. They’ve been quite consistent when it comes to new works, as they release a new album almost every 2 years … since 2008. They have made a nice name in the scene and their sound has changed (in this album) to a mix of 80s hard rock with hair/sleaze/glam metal along with various more modern features (90s-00s)… obviously influenced by Motley Crue, Skid Row, Guns n’ Roses, Hardcore Superstar, Poison, Crashdiet, The Poodles, Wig Wam etc.

The band has 80s hair metal looks and a poser attitude in general. The album is kind of polished with a dynamic production. They’ve got the chance to have a big promotion from their label… but although there are some fine songs here… overall they do not excite at all. What are they missing? Well… the big hooks, the strong catchy songwriting and a little bit of originality. On the other hand, the guitarists, Ande & Jim, are truly talented and are delivering some very tasteful solos on the album. If you like the aforementioned bands and hair/sleaze/glam metal in general, then you will find a few nice tunes here. My beloved is the enjoyable acoustic “Six Feet Under”. It won’t drive you crazy… but they’re not bad whatsoever.
