I remember the way promotion used to be made by all the labels about 12 years ago. They had several promo CD copies that they shared with magazines & webzines around the globe. Certainly this...

These Norwegian rockers have been around since 1998 and they have given several live gigs all those years. The time was passing so it was about time to record and release their debut album. After almost 13 years they finally made it.

So, what do they present on “R.O.C.K.S.”? It’s simple, the guys pay tribute to their beloved rock, rock & roll, classic rock and hard rock bands such as: Whitesnake, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Motorhead, Y&T, and the list goes on. This debut has a smell of a veteran-rock background. Also they didn’t compromise when they started the recordings, so they worked with some of the best out there. The album was recorded at Urban Sound Studios in Oslo, produced by Thomas Wang, mixed and mastered in the US by the renowned producer Beau Hill (Ratt, Warrant, Winger, Alice Cooper etc.) and the cover was made by Hugh Gilmour (Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake etc.). Well, although Hugh is well-known and has done a lot of great artworks, this one is plain and mild. The production is very rockin’ and has an 80s-90s feeling. The CD has been some time around but it’s now that the band secured a worldwide distribution through www.musicbuymail.eu and they push it to the market more properly.

So far so good… but things are not as fine as they seem to be. The album lacks on the songwriting part, it’s kinda banal and insipid. It becomes tedious after a while and too probable. They guys obviously built up a career playing covers of their favorite rock songs… and that’s clear when you listen to their own stuff… but that doesn’t mean they can write songs of the same quality the big bands of the 70s & 80s did. On the other hand, if you into rock & roll music with blues, hard rock, classic rock and melodic elements this release will give you some good time but nothin’ more… I bet that live on stage they rock like crazy…
