After the very successful second album, “Evolution: Creatio Ex Nihilio” in 2009, which introduced the band to a wider audience… Enochian Theory are back with a new full length album entitled “Life… and All It Entails”.
Picking up from where they left off with their second album… they still embellish their atmospheric music with art/prog rock and metal (with a few extreme features) elements… making the final result very interesting. They have been influenced by bands like: Riverside, Porcupine Tree, Anathema, Fates Warning, Katatonia, Marillion, Tool, Pink Floyd and so on… but I like the way they blend these influences with their own personal musical ideas. Although the album has a gloomy atmosphere overall… they did break it with some more extreme music passages… but they leave you no room to get away from this moody place that you enter as soon as you push the “play” button. All the songs have a dim, more abstruse background… while some are offering a more hopeful side and others are rather darker. The song order is very important… especially here… where even the small intros or the instrumentals (with various talk-samples) are crucial for the music generally. Of course, you will have to give it several listens… if you wanna apprehend its secretive context.
The song arrangements are very smart and beautiful… the production is very clear & rich… and it was taken care of by the band together with Rob Aubrey (IQ, Tony Levin, Transatlantic etc.) along with the recordings and the mixing. The album contains 12 new songs and the (remastered) bonus track “The Fire Around The Lotus” which was taken from “Evolution: Creatio ExNihilio”. Those who were amazed by the band’s previous album… will also find “Life… and All It Entails” truly absorbing…
