Desdemona is a Polish band active since 1996 and “Endorphins” is their fourth album released. They are all the rage in the dark independent scene of their own country and surely, they are pretty recognizable elsewhere as well, since they have mini-toured with Tiamat and Pain and have also opened the concerts for Katatonia and Type O’ Negative.

Agnieszka Lesna (vocals), Robert Plaskowski (keyboard), Krzysztof Chorazy (guitar) and Szymon Swierczynski (bass) are the band members and their music is a medley of industrial tunes and electro vibes surrounded by gothic elements and metal bits - the latter not very easily detected at times though. For the ones who find those particular types close to their liking, “Endorphins” is composed of ten vivid songs, specially written for the fans of the genre. Their whole work is too electronic and industrial for my taste but hey… that’s only personal! I also think that they need to come up with some more “attractive melodies” on their next work.

The band took two years to finish the recordings, the sessions took place in the band’s private studio, and the result is in earnest of good quality. Daniel Ciechowski, widely recognized as SKON, from Zowa Studio was responsible for the mixing and mastering. The long and the short of it is that if you are into this dark independent electro gothic scene you’ll, probably, have a nice time while listening to Desdemona’s new release.
