I’ve
been longing for such an album for many years now! What can I say
about it? What can I say about one of my all time favourite bands that
has released a new excellent album?! It’s not so easy for me to
write a review about this CD at all! Anyway I will try to explain how
I felt after I listened to new material from Casanova almost 4 years
after the band split up for the second time.
What do you
really expect to listen from Casanova in 2004? To those that have
listened to “Heroes” I must say that the new album’s sound is
quite close to it. Casanova is “moving” on more solid rock paths
nowadays, still preserving their ability to offer us good, qualitative
music! After all Casanova is one of the best hard rock bands ever,
even though some circumstances obstructed them from becoming a huge
name in music…
Talking
about “All Beauty Must Die” I must make a comment first for the
sexiest and most wonderful artwork of the year! I love the artwork…
and believe it or not it made my day and made me wanna listen to the
album immediately! Some say not to judge a book by its cover… but
when the cover is good and the result is good as well what happens
then?!!
Let’s see
the album track by track. The opening song “On My Love” is just
one of the best (if not the best) power love songs of the year and not
only! The song is just fantastic with a mood feeling and a killer
melancholic chorus! You must listen to this song right away!
“Happy” is a joyful, tease/sleaze song with a party feeling that
brings memories from the early 90’s era. “Not Over You” is a
rock song with a modern vibe, which shows that Casanova has added some
new rock elements in their music. Do not be afraid, cause the song has
the Casanova stigma and it is one of the best songs of the album!
Incredible chorus that you are gonna sing all day long! “Would I”
is a Russ Ballard song. Yes, you have read right! The song was written
by the great Russ and it’s just amazing! A mid-tempo, pop-rock song
with an astonishing melodic chorus that only Russ can write!
Michael’s voice fits just perfectly on this song! Maybe this one was
written at the first place only for Casanova! Who knows?! “Lying”
was written almost 12 years ago and it will bring on your mind Def
Leppard. Excellent hard rock song in the vein of Def Leppard.
“Dreamer” is another good rocker with a very good chorus that you
will surely like. “Last Of The Runaways” is an acoustic song with
a southern rock vibe that will surely surprise you! A brilliant song
with a superb chorus that you are gonna love! “Under My Skin” is a
terrific mid-tempo hard rock song which was written back in 1994 and
has a very good verse and chorus as well. It’s hard for you to
imagine how great Michael’s voice sounds! “Psycho Lisa” starts
with a sitar sound and then… bursts out in a massive hard rock riff!
Fantastic song with a great chorus and a very good vibe. One of the
best songs of the album. “After The Love Goes” is a melodic rock
song which starts rather slowly and seems like you are going to listen
to a ballad but gets hard when it comes to chorus… tremendous chorus
with very good backing vocals… another winner on the album! Finally
“The Guitar Man” is a cover from a 70’s band called Bread.
It’s acoustic and it’s good for an ending song… although I would
prefer another Casanova song… but this cover is very good as well.
I do not think that Casanova
left us many choices here. If you are a fan of the band get this album
immediately. If you are a rock or a hard rock fan and you are looking
for great qualitative music then “All Beauty Must Die” is your
next buy! Casanova returned to action with a fantastic rock album,
which is full of melodies and feelings! What else can we ask from a
band? Welcome back Casanova… we want to seduce us again with your
music as you did some years ago! Casanova rulezzzzzzz!!!
