Surprise Of May 2007

You must never underestimate a big band… no matter how strong it is or it is not... it’s always capable of doing something great… you know the beast is sleeping but if you disturb it so much then you will wake it up… and it will tear you apart. Paradise Lost had a period where its popularity was not on high levels… some have been cruel with the band, some were expecting nothing from them and some very few were the believers. Guess what?... the true believers were smiling at the very end… “In Requiem” is a terrific heavy/doom melodic gloom metal album that will shock all those that “believed” that Paradise Lost is a “dead” and “uninspired” band anymore and they must split up. The same goes for the labels that dealt with the band in the past as well.

Mixing up elements from all their previous works… such as: “Paradise Lost”, “Symbol Of Life”, “One Second” along with some heavy atmospheric touches from “Draconian Times” and “Icon”, they managed to record a fresh heavy goth melodic dark album that is probably the best album the band has released the last decade. Songs like: “Never For The Damned”, “Ash & Debris”, “The Enemy”, “Requiem”, “Unreachable”, “Prelude To Descent”, “Fallen Children” and “Sedative God” will prove to every rock fan out there that Paradise Lost is still alive, strong and kickin’!

I can’t wait to see all those Cassandra’s, that were foreseeing the band’s end... to write down how much they love the band and what a great band Paradise Lost is! I have already read things like that from people that were cursing the band some years ago… things here are simpler than you think. You underestimate a big band then you will be sorry for ever… Paradise Lost made it again… because they can and they will do it again because they are capable of doing it… so simple… let’s enjoy their inspired gloomy tunes… nothing more or less…
