I
was curious to listen to the new album of this excellent Norwegian
quartet especially after their glorious appearance in the Eurovision
song contest last year. The band’s debut album was a very good one
and I was totally satisfied... but those guys surely know how to
move on and how to offer good party rock n’ roll music.
Europe
is under a “WingWamania” and that is absolutely logical ‘cause
these guys know how to combine their experience, their musical
background and their inspiration in order to make fantastic albums
like this one. The band is more mature and that’s obvious from the
very first note of this album.
The
production is big and flawless (congrats to Teeny) and the songs...
well the songs will leave you breathless. “Rock My Ride” is the
new big rock anthem. This song will be played in every rock club
from now on. A must for every rocker out there. “Slave For Your
Love” is the big hit of the album. A rather mellow mid tempo,
catchy as hell, song with a great hook on the refrain. This song
will a have some air-play for sure. “Gonna Get You Someday” is a
amazing party rocker that will be one of the favorite live songs for
the fans. Very nice hook on the refrain. “Bygone Zone” is an
astonishing mid-tempo slow rocker (I wouldn’t call it a ballad)
that can satisfy even those who are not into rock music. This song
should have air-play. “Daredevil Heat” is a very beautiful hard
rocker that will bring on your mind the glorious 80s days... the
same goes for the wonderful rocker “Kill My Rock N’ Roll” as
well. “Riddle” is the “break” of the album as we hear to an
instrumental song that features an excellent guitar work from Mr.
Teeny. Guitarists will love this song more than the others. “At
The End Of The Day” is a superb touching ballad that won’t leave
anyone unsatisfied. “A R ‘N’ R Girl Like You” continue to
rock us with a ala “My Sharona” feeling. “Can’t Get Her (Out
Of My Bed)” is just a fine rocker that in my opinion is not the
one of the strongest songs of the album and finally “Breaking All
The Rules” is a very powerful 80s hard rock/metal song that I like
very much.
Well
fellows as you have understood we’re talking about one of the best
albums of 2006 and one of the best hard rock albums of the last
decade. I do not know how far can Wig Wam go ut I know that they are
unbeatable in their own game. All the fans of the big 80s hard rock
European/American bands should at list listen to Wig Wam not to say
that they shall eat ‘em up! Don’t even think whether you have to
buy a pure diamond like this album or not. I can easily recommend it
to all the rock fans!!
