1985… and King Kobra is debuting. Known musicians like Carmine Appice and Mark Free, along with guitarists David M. Philips and Mick Sweda, and bassist Johnny Rod joined forces together in order to play good melodic hard rock music.

The result, as you, know was something more than good, but they never managed to get over “Ready To Strike”. The reasons for that are many but I do not mind at all, cause this album became a classic and that’s all that matters to me.

“Ready To Strike” has all those elements that please a hard rock fan, and all those elements that made this kind of music popular in the 80’s. Great hard rock riffs, steady rhythm section and of course excellent hooklines and fantastic vocals! That’s all about King Kobra. That’s why I love them so much and that’s why I will never stop listening to this album.

We are “Ready To Strike” as we are cocked and loaded tonight, but we also have a great “Hunger” that drive us mad to see it wasted… but we’re looking for dangerous signs cause we are the “Shadow Rider” and midnight is our time… so we are ready for a “Shake Up” with everyone that stands on our way… cause we wanna get your “Attention” before the night is through… and we’re “Breakin’ Out” of our empty cell, cause we are “Tough Guys” and tough guys never cry… although a tear drops down as we’re hanging on the wire and we are “Dancing With Desire”… and we surely have “Seconds Thoughts” about you, should we play or walk away… what should we do?… as we only need a “Piece Of The Rock”… all we need is the key to the lock and we promise that we’ll never stop, if you take us to the top… maybe we’ll follow, maybe we will lead but all I know is that we are going to stand tall!

I truly cannot find a better way to describe this gem, so I let it speak for itself. I think that you all got the point here. First rate melodic had rock music full of great melodies and a voice that is going to make you ask for more and more.

Mark Free is one of the best singers when it comes to melodic hard rock/AOR music and this is easy to understand if you listen to this superb album.

Although the next releases weren’t so good as this one (“Thrill Of A Lifetime” is a good AOR album but not a hard rock one), but that fact doesn’t mean anything, as we all know that classics are not being released everyday.

After the second album of the band Mark left them, he did a outstanding album with Signal and a terrific album with Unruly Child and then he released his own songs under his name till 1994 (if I’m right) that he had a sex change where Mark became Marcie… and from that very moment Marcie is out of the music industry. Now she is only recording music for herself on the pc and does not want to have any connection with her previous life.

Despite those facts I like very much Mark Free and I do not give a shit about his/her personal life… I only know that I’m thrilled when I’m listening to his music and his voice and I would be grateful to him/her for the rest of my life. Let’s hope that we will hear again from her, cause voices like this one, are not be born everyday. Mark thx for everything…

As I learned sometime ago King Kobra have reunited, but Marcie did not joined them… that’s ok with me as long as she did not feel that way. I’m still waiting to listen to the songs of the band that I love so much. Better do not disappoint us this time.
