Surprise Of June 2003

It is a fact that I was longing to listen to the new Brainstorm album especially after their previous “Metus Mortis” which although is an excellent album, is a step below “Soul Temptation”! Anyone who has listened to “Metus Mortis” maybe will think that I’m exaggerating, but I do not tell nothing more or less than the truth. The new release of Brainstorm is the album that every heavy metal band wants to release and for sure it will make Brainstorm even a bigger band and more popular.

Personally, I was surprised when I’ve listened to
“Soul Temptation”. I knew that Brainstorm could release a better album than “Metus Mortis”, but I was a little bit aloof. So, when I pushed the “play” on the CD player all my compunctions were gone away! Maybe they decided to release the best album of their carrier (?), so far and they just make it happen! Brainstorm have a lot of capabilities and they manage to release an album that will make them shine among the other good bands of heavy/power genre.

I think that is impossible for someone not to be surprised when he will listen to
“Soul Temptation”. Heavy guitars, pounding rhythms, excellent vocal melodies (it seems that Andy B. Franck - vocals, has dovetail with the band), powerful and solid production and of course plenty of inspiration! That is the section where Brainstorm hack to differ among the other heavy metal bands. The songs of the album are brilliant, and the band showed us that fit as a flea!

The opener track of the album is the mid-tempo
“Highs Without Lows” that plugs you in, from the very start! Then the “spree” is about to begin! We listen to (I’m referring to the songs in random order) the grotesquery astonishing homonymous “Soul Temptation” (the last part of the trilogy which is called, Trinity Of Lust - the other songs are: “Shiva’s Tears”, and “Fornever”), the up-tempo powerful “Dying Inside”, the heavy melodious “The Leading”, the high-powered “To The Head”, the catchy “Fading”, the mid-tempo with the highly melodic chorus “Nunca Nos Rendimos”, the heavy/power “Doorway To Survive” and the harmonius hymn “Rising”!

Maybe I have written a lot of things, but I was so excited while I was listening to the album and it seems that I couldn’t bottle up myself! Personally, I consider
“Soul Temptation” as one of the best releases for this year so far and of course the best album that Brainstorm have released to date. If you like Brainstorm, then do not have any doubts for buying or not this album. Just do it. If you happen to buy albums only from the “big” bands cause you may believe that they are only the qualitative ones, then I must tell you that you sleep like a top! Apart from that, what is that thing that makes a band “big”? By any chance an outstanding album or maybe some excellent albums that a band releases from year to year? Or maybe the superb live shows of that band? Let’s think about the meaning of some words if we want to be totally righteous. Brainstorm have taken the way to the top and it is impossible something to put them off! Do not miss the chance to listen to a really heavy and power album that will make many bands of this genre twitter!!! This is truly a soul temptation or should I called it better an ear temptation?!!
