It
is true that
Sweden
and
Finland
have offered us some great albums this year…
Scandinavia
in general rules and keeps proving that with every new release.
Leverage is not exception to that. Although, it’s a new band, it
entered the scene with such power and confidence.
The
band is playing a kind of melodic metal with some prog and hard rock
elements and plenty of melody. Just imagine a combination of
Masterplan and Whitesnake. They do not fool around just delivering
excellent melodic heavy music with nice orchestrations and of course
with an awesome production. Maybe the vocalist of the band will remind
you of something ‘cause Pekka Heino is also the singer of Brother
Firetribe, but keep in mind that Leverage has nothing to do with
Brother Firetribe… even Heino sings with a lot of passion and with a
harder edge on this release.
The
truth is that I prefer most the second half of the album because the
songs are more complex and closer to Masterplan (even on Heino’s
voice you can hear a Lande/Coverdale influence sometimes). “Tides”
is surely one of the best debuts of 2006 and an album that will
satisfy every rock fan. I just can’t wait to listen to the band’s
new album. They have the potentials to go very far…
