Screamer - Highway of Heroes

These Swedes are celebrating a decade of existence this year, by releasing their fifth outing. Sounding like a less refined version of Enforcer and Ambush, they have a penchant for writing that straightforward, samey, simplistic metal that’s easy to enjoy, but hard to appreciate for more than the cheap thrill it is. The main issue other than the somewhat flat songs, is Andreas Wikström, the singer, who is not terrible, but is a far cry from being great.

Eclipse - Paradigm

Eclipse has for better or worse been going on for twenty years, with some seven releases up to now and their mainman Erik Mårtensson involved in illustrious projects like WET, Ammunition and others… you’d be hard pressed to find a hardest working & a hardest rocking singer, guitarist and producer guy. And like clockwork the Swedes deliver what’s expected from them without fail on “Paradigm”.

Familiar, but different enough the album has hit after hit, hitting you until you surrender completely.

Airbourne - Boneshaker

The bastard nephews of AC/DC, Australia’s Airbourne, have grown to be a pretty big attraction on their own, but in all truth, past their first couple of albums, they haven’t been able to keep up the whole doppelganger game, as well as they did initially, despite the best intentions they might have had and I feel that this is in no small part due to them trying too hard. What do I mean?

Crashdïet - Rust

It must suck to be a band like Crashdïet… a band with so much promise that ends up being signed straight up by Universal Records in their native Sweden, only to have their singer commit suicide and from that point on being unable to hold on to a singer for extended periods of time, with H. Olliver Twisted (later of Reckless Love) joining for an album before leaving for Simon Cruz to fill in and surprisingly last two albums, before quitting mid tour.
