Arch / Matheos to release new studio album “Winter Ethereal” on May 10th 2019

In progressive metal circles, the names of guitarist Jim Matheos and vocalist John Arch are spoken with due reverence. With the former having been a driving force in Fates Warning for thirty-five years, and the latter the original front-man of that band, they also have a single seminal work under the Arch / Matheos banner, 2011’s “Sympathetic Resonance”.

The formation of the beast we now call Exodus began in Richmond, CA in 1979, and although many started their journey as fans a few years down the line, there is no debating that the early 80s was a time for major growth in the world of thrash metal, especially in the Bay Area of California.

Evergrey live in Athens 2019

I was able to walk into the club, midway through Crossing Eternity’s short set. The Swedish/Romanian combo forms a rather decent prog power band, with cool ideas and more than adequate chops. Their vocalist Berti is not your typical wimpy tenor, spitting his guts out, but has a rather pleasant baritone that he utilizes well, within the band’s melodic compositions. Definitely worth checking out.
