Gus G. live in London 2019

Highly acclaimed Greek Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal guitarist Gus G. released his new solo album “Fearless” in April 2018. It is the successor of 2015 album “Brand New Revolution” and marks the Firewind mastermind’s first release since exiting Ozzy Osbourne’s band back in 2017. He is been his guitarist for about eight years and despite has enjoyed his time with Ozzy, he was quite relieved to leave so that he can move forward with his personal career.

In his new album, Gus G. joins forces with vocalist/bassist Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69/Unisonic) and drummer Will Hunt (Evanescence). He always had very good relations with both artists and both had collaborated with him in the past as well. And it’s always amazing to see such great artists working together.

Witnessing his talents live was a great pleasure and honor for me. Gus is a phenomenal guitarist with incredible chops and a wild stage presence. It is impossible not to be moved by his energy. He is considered to be one of the reigning guitar virtuosos in the metal scene today and I couldn’t agree more with that consensus.

There was an atmosphere of palpable excitement in the air as everyone was waiting for Gus to get on stage. His appearance on stage could only be compared to a tsunami. His lightning fast guitar work was precise like a machine. He’s insanely talented and has to this day produced some of the most memorable riff/solos in the power metal genre. His performance was a non-stop, no-holds-barred demonstration of shred insanity packed with tremendous energy, as he navigated through the set list. I can only say that he is a truly talented musician and it was exhilarating to watch him perform music from his personal catalog.

Opening acts for the night were Andy James and Dendera.

Andy James is one of the world’s newest and best shred guitarists, with amazing technique, phrasing and all around ability. I was shocked by his enormous talent! He has several acclaimed solo releases to his name as well as two successful albums with Sacred Mother Tongue and is a well-respected metal session guitarist. He played festivals and tours all over Europe and East like China and India.

Dendera is a heavy metal band from Portsmouth with two EPs and two albums under their belt. Full of explosive drums, massive riffs, truly epic vocals and a keen sense of melody, they have stamped their own authority on top of a classic metal vibe. I’m really enjoying their music, they are so talented and surely lead singer Ashley Edison knows how to keep a crowd entertained.

What a night to remember!
