Surprise Of February 2003

On The Rise is a brand newcomer band that comes from the icy Norway. And if you believe that this band may have any connection with the music that Norwegian bands are use to produce (black metal) you are absolutely wrong! On The Rise play melodic rock/AOR
and when I say melodic I totally mean it! Everything starts and ends
at this point! Melody and only melody! There’s
no better way (word) to characterize his album.
The masterminds behind the band are the singer/guitarist Terje Eide and the singer Bennech Lyngboe, who managed to compose an excellent album in the vein of the classic rock formula. Those guys are very impressive songwriters and also the vocal harmonies that they use in their tracks are extremely melodic and divine! The band knows how to write catchy songs with uplifting choruses. And this is something that a few bands can do - just believe me! In this album we can listen to well structure songs with superb instrumentation and great hooklines. What else or more can we ask from a band? Please consider that this album is the debut album of On The Rise! Maybe this band is one of the best that has appeared in this specific genre for a long time now.
There are a few ballads like the sensitive
“Memories Forever”, the moody
“The Moment”, and the smooth
“Could Have Been The Last Time”, which will make you melancholic and will even make you wanna cry... every one of you for different reasons of course, but those songs will surely wake up well hidden feelings of you! Also the rocker songs like the wonderful
“Leaps And Bounds”, the melodious
“Lift You Up”, the memorable rockin’
“Running In The Night”, the tastefully up-tempo
“Sadness Hits You Like A Stone”, the joyful
“Beat Of Your Heart”, the fascinating mid-tempo
“Pride”, and the atmospheric
“The World Of Change”, will please you at the same way and for sure you’re gonna be in love with On The Rise!
I strongly believe that we are living in a
“golden”
period that the old bands are returning, and also releasing
incredible albums and the most important of all is, of course, the
new bands, which are stronger than before! Just take On The Rise as
an example. The debut album of this band is so damn good that many
bands will never be able to reach it even though the exist for years
and years!
So, as a conclusion to all those that I wrote above I would like to say to all of you that you really love melodic rock/AOR not to miss On The Rise. There is no way not to love this masterpiece! From now on I will watch On The Rise very closely...
because they forced me to do so!!! They just released one the best albums of this year, so their next step must be at least
as impressive as this one!
