I have said it many times before, but I’m afraid that I have to say it once again. The late 80’s – early 90’s was the golden era for melodic rock/AOR/hard rock music! If someone wants a proof on that, then he should check out Hall Of Fame generally to see how many bands of that era have a place in this section. Unfortunately this era has gone, and it will never come back. But that does not mean that nowadays we do not have great hard rock/AOR bands or that they do not release incredible albums. Every era has some bands that gone unheard due to the bad promotion or the ridiculous policy of the labels. Even nowadays we can find such bands and be sure that they need our support more than the “old” ones.
So, that’s why I decide to present the debut album of Fair Warning. I strongly believe that Fair Warning is a very good band that never got what it deserves. But
it is never late to “discover” a qualitative band that plays great hard rock
music. If I’m not wrong, at 2000 they released their last studio album.
Thus as it concerns to “Fair Warning” I must say that although it came out an era that that kind of music was on top, it didn’t make a big breakthrough and only people that are dealing with that kind of music and searching things out, know not just the band but especially their terrific debut.
Fair Warning’s music is based on the melodic and smart hooklines, the soaring vocals of Tommy Heart and of course the virtuoso guitar playing of Helge Engelke. Surely that is the big trump card of Fair Warning. They know how to compose interesting catchy melodic rock songs and emotional ballads that can make you cry!
Of course “Fair Warning” is full of great songs such as the amazing opener “Longing For Love”, the catchy rocker “One Step Closer”, the sensitive “Take Me Up”, the melodic “When Love Fails”, the outstanding semi-ballad “Call Of My Heart”, the hard rocker “Hang On”, the up-tempo “Out On The Run”, the powerful “The Heat Of Emotion”, the heavy melodious mid-tempo “Take A Look At The Future” and the touching ballad “Long Gone”. I almost referred to all the songs but I can assure you that this album have no fillers. All the songs are great melodious catchy tunes. I don’t think that are many albums that have no filler songs at all. That’s the result when a band releases a really inspired album, that at least it should be mentioned by everyone as one of the best melodic
hard rock albums of all time! Therefore if you are a “hunter” of qualitative melodic catchy music then you’ve just found another reason to start searching for the debut of Fair Warning. Be fair and as well support them, and the warning will also be fair for you!!!
