You are never too old to try new things...

GR logoWell, since it’s officially Spring now and the time has also changed, I decided to do a little “experiment” and see if people are interested in new releases and new bands or not, especially these days.

Having been a part of several FB rock/metal music groups and on FB pages, I started posting videos and tracks of bands that have come out the last decade or so. To my surprise, those bands hardly got any “likes” and more or less the members didn’t seem to be aware of the majority of the bands I was posting. On the other hand, when I posted something “classic”, especially before the millennium, then the “likes” were many as well as the comments. I’ve noticed over the next days that all the posts regarding “classic stuff” were enjoying people’s time and comments on the whole.

And I ask! How encouraging can such a thing be for our beloved rock/metal music? Is this really the reason why there are so many groups, pages and blogs around the web? All they need to do is share the same “classic” things again and again, without even caring about new music if it isn’t from big bands which enjoy the press exposure. Is this the right way to support music in order to have a continuation over the years? If the same thing had happened in the 70s and in the 80s then none of those bands who became big would have existed and people would have never cared about them. They would still be listening to the 60s bands that started it all. I do not know why especially today that the web offers a major help for the fans to search and find out about new great bands, they still prefer to post, share and “like” the same old things and even comment each time saying how great a track it is!!! How about that!

For sure, the fans must respect and listen to the old “classic” stuff but they must also care and support the music scene and the bands of their era if they actually wanna support & help rock/metal music progress and take it to the next level. If you do not care about the bands of your time and you only talk about the past, then something’s wrong with you first and then with music in general. Good bands and music can be found in all times and periods, so saying otherwise is kinda unwise and low.

PS: How satisfied are you by the Festival lineups in Europe? If not then do have a look at the Greek ones!!! Generally, Summer Festivals are a good “ordinance” but they drastically need to evolve if they wanna “seduce” more & more fans to attend them each year and not the opposite…

PS2: The GR Model Spotlight of April is the gorgeous super sexy Playboy’s blonde Jasmine Ferguson. Check out Jasmine’s pics and interview here.

PS3: Regrettably, a few weeks ago the pioneering musician, keyboard master & composer, the unique, Keith Emerson suddenly passed away. Words cannot describe how deeply Keith will be missed and how much he has influenced and helped progressive rock music evolve over the years. His music will always be remember and cherished by the prog rock/metal fans. May He Rest In Peace…
