To DIY or not to DIY…

GR logoI’ve noticed that many newcomers do not mind not signing to a music label (of course things are different when it comes to major labels, in most cases), and they have found the way to do things on their own, the famous “DIY”, and they are happy with the results.

You see these days it’s the PR labels that are doing the entire job. They promote the releases, the send out the press releases, they spread the word on the social media, they help the bands book shows and so on. Hence, many new bands, and some older ones, have chosen that path without having to pay the dues to a label’s “big boss” that would pressure them to do things for the label’s own good. That is something that has kept most bands away from wanting to get signed by a music label. Then again, there are various goodies that come with a label’s signing but that’s another story.

It easier to get a PR label, pay them to do the “hard work” for you and go on that way. Certainly, the story doesn’t end here, cuz any band, especially a newcomer, must work hard so as to achieve their goals. Nothing is free, especially in the music business and “success” won’t come if you just pay a PR label to do the “hard work” for you. I understand that sometimes it is most alluring to do things on your own, but do keep in mind that the effort you must make is at least the double; keep this in mind for better or for worse.

PS1: Even though it is as hot as hell outside, I do think that things are better when some good rock/metal music is coming from your speakers…

PS2: The Model Spotlight of this month is the sexy Amanda Kee. Check out her interview and pics here.

PS3: Unfortunately, a few weeks ago Vinnie Paul passed away from a heart attack at the age of 54. Vinnie was the drummer & co-founder of Pantera and Damageplan. The last 12 years was a member of Hellyeah. Thx for the music Vinnie… Rest In Peace…
