Sometimes we don’t even choose the subjects that we are gonna talk about… it seems that they choose us. I’ve had in mind something totally different to refer to… but some recent incidents… made me wanna talk about some things that are happening in the music industry.
It’s been a while since I faced an arrogant, unhelpful and unprofessional attitude from a label… that wanna call itself “big one” as well. Nope they will never be a “big label” if they treat the press and people like that. I’ve been in the music industry for over a decade and I’ve seen many big and so called labels facing the gutter eventually… as they did think they were something like Gods… and treated the fans and the press with such an improper behavior. It looks as though the same thing is happening again and again… and will never stop… even though it comes from labels that are not even close to be called big or successful ones. Just guess what the future will bring… can you?
Irrelevant with music people, working in those labels are making it harder to communicate and support music in general. They think, cuz they’ve got a position and a title, that they can manipulate and trick the fans and the independent press; the latter is a means of circulating thoughts and ideas without gaining anything at all.
On the other hand, the bands have nothing to do with those wannabe big labels and the irrelevant people working on them. They are just unlucky cuz they are dealing with people that do not love and do not support music by any means. Those bands will be free after a while and they will have the chance to work with true, professional labels that do love and support music… but till then… they will have to bear the unprofessional behavior of some labels that hurt music sooner or later.
Here on Grande Rock… we always choose to present and support independent releases from bands/musicians… for we do wanna help those bands/artists that have no one to support and advertise them so as to reach as many people/fans as possible. We do not have any give and take “under the table” with any labels and we do not want to. We prefer to review, interview and present unknown/independent bands to all those big advertised ones that rarely deliver any good music in our time. Those who keep pace with the site all this time know that better than anyone.
PS: I must also say that there are some people in some big labels or some smaller ones that they do help us when it comes to interviews or reviews. Of course, there are professionals and relevant people in the music industry as well.
PS2: I really believed that in 2012… such behaviors would have gone for good… but you never know what will surprise you as you live and learn each new day.
PS3: We also wanna thank you for your appreciation and your support to Grand Rock. We’ve reached 100 visits per day in a very small period and we are truly happy about that. Unfortunately, the Drupal counter we have on the site is not working properly but we’ve got the Google Analytics where we can see the whole real traffic of the site. Obviously, we can do way better… so please keep spreading the word around the globe… The Grande Rock team thank you very much…
PS4: Happy Easter Celebration for all people on Earth… and pleasurable holidays for those who can afford it…
PS5: We’ve chosen to honor a great musician that offered so much in hard rock music… so here’s an astonishing song… with a wonderful video footage of that era… Steve Harris your music will leave forever…
