The year
is almost over and I’m very glad that I will say goodbye with a
classic heavy dynamite! Crescent Shield originally formed in 2000 as a
side-project for Onward vocalist Michael Grant and then-Destiny’s
End guitarist Daniel DeLucie. Right after Onward’s disband in 2003,
Grant and DeLucie decide to convert this side-project into a full-time
band. The line-up was completed with drummer Craig Anderson
(ex-Ignite/Engine) and bassist Melanie Sisneros (ex-New
Eden
/The Iron Maidens/Sinergy), two veterans of the
Los Angeles
music scene.
Well enough
said about the band’s biography let’s better deal with the music.
Crescent Shield offers what its band members know to offer best…
traditional, epic, powerful, “heroic” heavy metal… nothing less
or more. If you are into American heavy/power metal music and you love
bands like Manowar, Jag Panzer, Omen, Fates Warning (first era) and
Heir Apparent, then this album will totally blow your brains to the
wall! Heavy riffs, excellent solos, great operatic/epic vocals and a
very powerful production… this alum shows how good traditional heavy
metal music should be played nowadays. Every song is very good and
I’m sure that no single metal fan out there will be left unsatisfied
with this excellent release.
Some were
complaining… about traditional heavy metal music… were
disappointed and were thinking that no band nowadays can create albums
that inspired the new metal generation in the 90s. Heavy metal cannot
die… as long as bands like Crescent Shield are existing… heavy
metal is here… strong again ready to claim its lost throne… heavy
metal is riding free again… no one will be left alive from heavy
metal’s unleashed fury…
