Avatarium - The Fire I Long For

Avatarium are a side project of Candlemass mastermind, Leif Edling, who pretty much took a life of their own after their debut was met with a fair bit of success. The albums that followed up still featured Edling, but his involvement was more limited, due to his battle with exhaustion, after years on the road that manifested psychosomatically. He didn’t tour with the band however; in fact he didn’t even tour with Candlemass during that time.

Villagers Of Ioannina City sign worldwide deal with Napalm Records

Experimental psychedelic rock standouts Villagers Of Ioannina City have officially signed a worldwide contract with Napalm Records.

Since their formation in 2007, Villagers Of Ioannina City have drawn listeners into the heat – their sound slowly flowing melancholically yet booming with irrepressible energy and wildness. With a sonic synthesis of post and stoner rock influences and waving yet vibrant soundscapes topped by a large dose of Greek-folk elements, the quintet precisely hits the mark.

Insect Ark - currently made up of founder Dana Schechter (Swans) and Andy Patterson (ex SubRosa) - have been crafting uncomfortable soundscapes that feel both intimate and icy cold since 2011. Nightmarish horror film-like visions, outer space travel, and gritty noir textures were explored in their previous offerings - the much-praised Portal / Well” (2015) and “Marrow Hymns” (2018) - but now, something far greater is coming. Prepare for “The Vanishing”.

The trio hailing from Pisa, who was previously known under the name of The Questionmarks until 2017 and who shared the stages with acts alike Ecstatic Vision among many more, creates an exciting and intelligent fusion of stoner elements, jazz rock to psychedelia and progressive sounds.

Jeff Lynne’s ELO - From Out of Nowhere

“You can never change, You just keep on being you”, Jeff Lynn sings on “Help Yourself” and I am wondering if that’s self-reflection in any form, since his output with the “Orchestra” has been sporadic in the past few decades, yet no matter what the sleeves say, the musical style remains consistent and immediately recognizable. It gives a sense of continuation of a uniform flow, no matter how many years may have passed.
