Back from retirement… Rock ‘N’ Rolf… is here again with his so called pirate metal… but was it good to return 7 years later with a new studio album… or he had better stayed home? Probably, the experiment with Toxic Waste wasn’t successful at all so… what else have you got than to go back to your safe land?
Although the childish cover artwork, honestly it’s the worst I’ve seen in years, does not make you wanna play the CD… I was thinking… that we should not judge a book by its cover… so I made the mistake and listened to it.
One of the most legendary, influential and enduring names in the history of rock music, SWEET release a brand new studio album – their first since ‘Sweetlife’ – on April 27.
With worldwide album sales of more than 55 million copies, SWEET have notched 34 Number One smashes across the globe as part of a run of timeless hits that includes ‘Blockbuster!’, ‘Hell Raiser’, ‘The Ballroom Blitz’, ‘The Six Teens’, ‘Action’, ‘Fox On The Run’ and ‘Love Is Like Oxygen’.
The band is back now after 4 years of silence…having released not 1 but 2 albums simultaneously! Well… that’s a very brave move… in truth to be told. Bruno is still cooperating with the vocalist Benjamin Venet (Jayhawkers) that also participated in the previous album “Open Road”. Benjamin has a very good & rich voice and sometimes he reminds me (especially his slightly raspy tone) of the renowned Michael Voss (Casanova, Mad Max, etc.). Honestly, he fits Bruno’s music like a glove and it’s great to hear him again. Moreover, he has co-written most the songs here… so he’s more or less a vital part of Bruno’s band.

I was very excited when I saw that these NWOBHM legends were about to release a new album after almost 26 years! Angel Witch are not only considered but they are also one of the most influential bands in the history of heavy metal music… due to their monumental self-titled debut album in 1980. After some line-up changes, various up & downs and two OK releases they disappeared from the scene for a few years. In the early 00s and after the release of the compilation “Resurrection”… they started warming things up and in the years to follow they gave several live shows.
