I will not make any pretenses, about not LOVING, Wig Wam since in them, alongside, with their Swede, comrades “The Poodles” I have found a good enough substitute for what I have been missing in music, since, Queen fell by the wayside, following Freddie's untimely death in the early 90s. Read: Polyphony, harmonies, clever song ideas that sometimes border on being camp and great vocals! Dismissed by most people as a gimmick, a one off, or a Eurovision project band, Wig Wam, have proven everyone wrong, by unleashing upon the world, 3 high quality albums, choke full of catchy hard rock songs, in quick succession!
Back after two years since “New Religion” the Swedish glam rockers are back with a new work. The bad news is that the original members Joey Cirera (drums) and Luke Rivano (bass) have left the band and were replaced by Edd Liam on bass and Joel Cirera on drums… you can still hear them on the album though.
This is the third release for the German sleaze/glam rockers Kissin’ Dynamite. They’ve been quite consistent when it comes to new works, as they release a new album almost every 2 years … since 2008. They have made a nice name in the scene and their sound has changed (in this album) to a mix of 80s hard rock with hair/sleaze/glam metal along with various more modern features (90s-00s)… obviously influenced by Motley Crue, Skid Row, Guns n’ Roses, Hardcore Superstar, Poison, Crashdiet, The Poodles, Wig Wam etc.
Ten years after “Sweetlife”, Andy Scott (Sweet’s original guitarist) is back with a new “cover” album and his current line-up, which consists of: Pete Lincoln (lead vocals & bass guitar), Tony O’Hora (guitar, keyboards & vocals) and Bruce Bisland (drums & vocals). Sweet is a legendary band that was formed in 1968… and in a way, they determined the glam rock movement back in the seventies.
This Swedish rock quintet consists of members that have been in the scene for several years and a former football player! Specifically, Casablanca are: Anders Ljung (Space Age Baby Jane) on vocals, Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper and Electric Angels) on guitars, Erik Stenemo (Melody Club) on guitars, Mats Rubarth (former Swedish national team football player) on bass and Josephine Forsman (Sahara Hotnights) on drums. They also performed along with the soprano Malena Ernman (she took part at Melodifestivalen 2009 with this song) at Melodifestivalen 2010 (Swedish Eurovision Festival) with the song “La Voix”. The rock cover they did was very good but I can’t tell why they didn’t include this song on the album as a bonus track at least.
H.E.A.T are considered to be one of Europe’s highest hopes when it comes to melodic rock/AOR music. They gained much more reputation after their participation in the final round of Melodifestivalen 2009 with the song “1000 Miles”. The sudden departure of their singer Kenny Leckremo in 2010… cut off the band’s furious advent for a while… but luckily they did a wise move when they chose the winner of the Swedish Idol 2009, Erik Gronwall, as their new frontman. Erik brought some fresh air… in the band’s camp and gave them the push they needed, to go further.
The single "Here Now" is first out from the upcoming new album "Addiction". The album, which release date has been postponed until June 6th 2012, will be released in Sweden by Swedish label RAMBO/GAIN (Hardcore Superstar, Europe, Mustasch, Avatar, Devilicious, etc) and Dead Tree Music (Solitude, Devilicious, En svensk Tiger etc) and the distribution is handled by Sony Music.
One of the most legendary, influential and enduring names in the history of rock music, SWEET release a brand new studio album – their first since ‘Sweetlife’ – on April 27.
With worldwide album sales of more than 55 million copies, SWEET have notched 34 Number One smashes across the globe as part of a run of timeless hits that includes ‘Blockbuster!’, ‘Hell Raiser’, ‘The Ballroom Blitz’, ‘The Six Teens’, ‘Action’, ‘Fox On The Run’ and ‘Love Is Like Oxygen’.
