atmospheric
I’ve been looking for something new. Not just a new band that sounds like some other band that I can name off the top of my head, something that is truly its own genre. Needless to say, I think “Kore” by the Italian group Dperd is just that. Their simple, yet epic sound makes for some very intriguing atmospheres and soundscapes that seem to send you on a journey through your mind.
I decided to check out this album, when I heard and read quite a few amazing things about it. Some people like to exaggerate by their nature, others for they’ve got something to gain and a few cuz’ the first two say so! That’s how the story goes on and on.
In any case, Omnium Gatherum are more than 15 years around so they do serve that melodic death metal genre in their way. Of course, all these bands that came right after the mid-90s all wanted to become Amorphis No2. The band they came closest to was/is Insomnium. Definitely, the common thing among those bands is that they are all coming from Finland. It’s something in the weather… I f I may!

If anything else, Kingcrow are a hard working band that has a certain vision for its music and evolves with every release. Starting out in Italy in 1996, these guys made it through all the way and now they are releasing their fifth full-length album, entitled “In Crescendo”, under a new label.
One of the most respected progressive rock bands ever to emerge from Switzerland, Zenit, have released their third album "The Chandrasekhar Limit" on Galileo Records on January 28, 2013. Possibly the most ambitious release of 2013, right from the beginning of Zenit's new 69-minute masterpiece, Andy Thommen (formerly Clepsydra), affixes a seal with his distinctive bass playing on the first song (“Awaken”). Later, with the start of the guitar, you will somewhat be reminded of the Clepsydra sound: awesome guitar-bass team play! Here is the beginning of what to expect from this brilliant album – quality!
Act number 2 for this Israeli band and this time they took things one step further. They blended hard rock, heavy/power (sympho) metal, pomp rock, prog, melodic rock & pop-rock music. Having been around for only 3 years, they seem rather confident on what they are up to. The beautiful cover artwork, which was designed by Jobert Mello (Primal Fear, Sabaton, Benedictum etc.) had me waiting for another sympho/power metal group but thankfully things were somewhat different.
Shortly before beginning the studio sessions for the upcoming 10th studio album "Construct", the band amicably parted ways with bassist Daniel Antonsson.
The decision has been growing for a while, and the main reason is that Daniel wanted to focus on his own musical projects as well as working more in his recording studio. Being first and foremost a guitarist, he felt that the playing bass in a full-time band didn't allow him much time for his main instrument and true passion.
