Extrema is band that’s been a long time in the European thrash metal… we’re talking for more than 25 years! Surely, one cannot expect anything new or groundbreaking from them as they do what they do for so many years and they are still around making music and touring.
Southern California's female fronted hard rockers, IN THIS MOMENT, are gearing up to record their first ever DVD which is being shot at their upcoming tour stop on May 21st in Madison, WI at the Orpheum Theater. IN THIS MOMENT has partnered up with long time supporter, radio station WJJO, as part of their Mayday Maylay concert series. The band has a bunch of surprises in store for this show including rarely played songs from their catalog and an all-new stage show created specifically for this concert. Also performing that night are special guests Nonpoint and Gemini Syndrome. The concert is being directed by Brad Golowin who is known for his work with Miss May I and 10 Years to name a few.
Minnealopis based rock/metalers Semeron released their newest album entitled “Breathing Scarlet”.
I don’t think that Drowning Pool need much of an introduction. Most of us have heard about them thanks to their 2001 single “Bodies” from the album “Sinner”. 12 years after that and with Jasen Moreno joining the band as lead vocalist, it was time for them to release their new album entitled “Resilience”. Once again, they stay true to the alternative metal and post-grunge style of music they’ve been playing with great success all those years.
Katatonia will return with a special triple-LP vinyl release featuring an epic set of classics from the band's catalogue. “Last Fair Day Gone Night” features the Swedish dark rock/metal master at its glorious best with this electrifying set from London's esteemed Koko venue during a series of special celebratory shows to mark the band's 20th anniversary during 2011's “Last Fair Day Gone Night” tour. Set for a June 17, 2013 release on Peaceville Records, “Last Fair Day Gone Night” is presented on triple heavyweight 180gm vinyl in a deluxe box, with a 12 page 12" book.
A very interesting release has reached my ears lately, straight out of Birmingham. The band’s name is Bovine and their first album is entitled “The Sun Never Sets on the British Empire”. Imagine bands like Kyuss or Clutch playing their songs 4 times faster and you will begin to understand what Bovine sound like.
Hi Luana… It seems that work never stops for you. After an extended tour you’re back with a new album. How do you feel?
L: I feel as the luckiest person in the world... music is my life, the life I’ve chosen... how could I be happier?
Even though you have been around for about 8 years, this is your forth release to date. That’s almost a new album every 2 years. I think not leaving big gaps between albums and keeping your fans always interested in the band is a good thing. Do you agree?

I was quite longing for this album cuz’ Amorphis used to be a very beloved band to me even from the mid-90s time. I can easily remember how I got the blue vinyl of “Tales…” back in the day and how impressed I was by this band. With “Elegy” their “evolution” took over and that meant the end of the brutal vocals and the heavier parts of the band. Not to be unfair, both “Elegy” & “Am Universum” were very good albums... even though the band changed after them.
After the massive "Made in Germany" tour 2011/2012 together with RAMMSTEIN dark generals from Sweden, DEATHSTARS, began writing new material for the upcoming album.
In May 2013 DEATHSTARS will do a shorter tour in Australia, headline the MainStage at Blackfield Festival, Germany in June then go back to Sweden to get mobilized for the recordings that are scheduled to start in July. The album, which is yet untitled, marks the band's fourth full-length release and will turn another page in the book of their trademark deathglam music and show new interesting sides of the band while still staying true to their sound.
