CAGE

Cage's new album was a surprise for the whole metal community. These guys know how to produce excellent heavy songs that can make your head bangin'! There was no chance not to arrange an interview with a member of the band cause great albums like "Darker Than Black" must followed up by good and interesting interviews as well. So, Mike Giordano, the bassist of Cage told to Grande Rock about the success of the album, the dark places and not only... Read Below...

Hello Mike and congratulations on “Darker Than Black”! What's the response of the album so far (fans and media)?

M: Thank you so much, the response of the album has been incredible all over the world. The reviews we are getting are so positive and the fans really appreciate what we created.

Why did you name the album “Darker Than The Black” and do you believe that a place like this, really exists? If yes where it might be?

M: The title is just like one of those things you have to think about. I personally do believe there is a place '' Darker Than Black'', but I won't get into that right now. (Interviewer’s note: Hmmmm……)

Now let me ask you about a marvelous track from your last CD. What do you know about the “Philadelphia Experiment” and why did you decide to compose a song about this incident?

M: Well, I saw the movie years ago, I remember it being about a military experiment to make a ship disappear. The idea to write a song about was Sean's. He’s really into stuff like the unexplained and science fiction.

Another song that I would like to tell me a few words is the “Secret Of Fatima”! What have you heard about this?

M: Again, one of Sean's ideas, he writes all the lyrics. I do know it's about three children with the gift of prophecy, who revealed three secrets, two of which have come to pass.

Lets pass now to the producer of your album, Roy Z’. How did you decide to team up with him and what do you think about him as a professional and as a person?

M: Well, Roy Z. did help with the production and some incredible guest leads, but the real credit goes to Richard "The Guru" Carr. He is a very close friend of Roy, so when he let Roy hear some of what we were doing, he offered his assistance in the studio. Of course we accepted!!!

Did it happen anything weird or funny during the recordings of your album that you would like to share with the readers of this interview?

M: Besides the stress, and all of us wanting to kill each other, it was quite normal.

Can you describe to the fans and me a typical live appearance of the group? (Atmosphere, responses of the fans etc.)

M: We are very high energy, and we love to be on stage. I think people get into the show more when they see we're having a good time. Then in turn we feed off of the crowd’s energy; it’s like a circle.

What is the band doing this period and what are your plans for the near future?

M: We are currently working on a DVD, which will have live footage, interviews, and videos. We are also writing for the upcoming CD. No rest for us!!!

Let’s relax a little bit. Can you describe me in a few words the other members of the band and give a characterization?

M: Sean is like the brains behind the scene, a real business type. Dave is kind of the militant one, but always messing with his amp. It drives me nuts!! Anthony is so kick back, but full of great ideas, he just kind of goes with the flow. And last but not least, there's Mikey, he is one of a kind. He just loves to rock!

Who are your favorite bassists players and how did you decide to work on this instrument?

M: Well, of course the one and only Steve Harris, but there is also Jimmy Bain, Ian Hill, Lemmy, Eddie Jackson, and Rudy Sarzo just to name a few. I decided to play bass back in high school, some friends of mine had a band and they needed a bassist, so that’s where it all began!

And now just a couple of “weird questions”… Imagine that your wife is selling your whole album-collection just to buy for her an expensive, good ring. How would you react?

M: I'd sell her new car and buy my CD's back and then buy a new bass just to piss her off! (Interviewer’s not: Nice reaction huh?… I agree!)

If you were living in Middle Earth (I hope that you have seen or read the “Lord Of The Rings”) which character would you choose to be and why?

M: Gimli, because he's a little Badass!!!!

Ok Mike! My questions are over! First of all I want to thank you for your patience and time and I would also like to wish you good luck and success! So, say anything you want to the fans or add something that nobody has asked you and you would like to share it with us?

M: Thank you for the interview. I would like to say a special thanks to all our fans for all the support. It really means a lot to us and we look forward to seeing you all on tour!!!
Peace,
Mike G.
