Blue Tears is a unique case when it comes to melodic hard rock music. They were from America and they managed to release one and only album in 1990 and they are considered as one of the best “unknown” bands of melodic hard rock music. Many things have been said about this band, how it begun, how it broke up, why it never released another album and stuff like that but only the band’s members know what really happened back then and we will never find out the whole truth. Unfortunately some years ago 17 songs were appeared on the internet, which were some demos songs of the band and had a very bad sound but if they had a good production they would have become huge. On the other hand some bands stolen parts of those demo songs in order to release their own songs something which is really a shame for a band to do. Fortunately some of those songs were released a couple of years ago by Gregg Fulkerson and Mike Spears’ new band Attraction 65. This band has a modern sound and its material is closer to modern melodic rock music.

Back to Tears Blue again and all I can say is that this album is just magnificent! The band has taken the best elements of Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Winger and Firehouse and it managed to release an outstanding album full of great songs. Gregg’s vocals are wonderful, the guitars are fantastic and the hooklines of the album are just superb! The production is good enough but surely it could have been better but I believe if their label had supported this album in a most appropriate way then it would have been one of the best hard rock albums ever just like Def Leppard’s Hysteria”. They had the potentials to go further than some of the aforementioned bands but it takes more than one in order to succeed. Fortunately they offered us some eternal hard rock hymns like “Rockin’ With The Radio”, “Crush”, “Take This Heart”, “Innocent Kiss”, “Racing With The Moon”, “Kiss Me Goodbye” and “Thunder In The Night” and some astonishing sensitive ballads such as “Blue Tears”, “Halfway To Heaven”, and True Romance”.

This album was destined to be a classic from the day it was released and the members of this band if music industry was fair should have become the new rock stars. Of course we cannot turn back time in order to correct that injustice so, all that we can do is to seek for this excellent album and to get it wherever we find it. All those who like to seek for old and new hard rock gems that never get a big promotion from labels and the press know that many bands have release all those years albums that were far better than all those shit stuff that big labels are releasing every day! Blue Tears will never have the chance to gain what they deserve but we, the fans, can give it to them ‘cause at the very end all that matters is the love of the fans for someone to go big. Albums like “Blue Tears” are not released every day... and when they do, are not always becoming very popular!!!
