Surprise Of December 2003
|
The Lizards were formed some years ago by the bassist Randy Pratt and the guitarist Patrick Klein two guys who dreamed to play the music that they love most. The line up of the band completed with the addition of John Garner, who is the former singer of Sir Lord Baltimore, and of Bobby Rondinelli, who used to play with Black Sabbath, Rainbow and now he is also playing with Blue Oyster Cult.
I totally believe that the most of you have already understood what kind of music The Lizards are playing. So, I’m sure that the fans of good melodic hard n’ heavy 70’s music will be excited with this album. If you love the 70’s hard rock music, with the great solos, the “dirty” vocal melodies and the heavy rhythm section, then The Lizards will make you put on you boots, wear your leather again, and to go to the nearest pub to drink some beers! We are talking about great hard rock music with many influences from the 70’s era,
without becoming boring and old-fashioned.
Please do not mix things up! This is not another one stoner rock group…
they have no connection with the so-called stoner music. This one is excellent hard n’ heavy music in the vein of Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Whitesnake and Led Zeppelin. The production of the album is very good and it has a feeling from the 70’s as well! Of course it wouldn’t be appropriate from me to talk about the music skills of each member. Only when you listen to it you will understand why I’m telling you that.
Highlights of the album are, without doubt, the incredible opener “Grip Of Love”, the hard rocker “It’s Alright”, the excellent catchy “Hungry World”, the funky rocker “Wheel Of Fortune”, the heavy rocker “Hard Luck Messiah”, the “dirty” 70’s rocker “Burnin’ Time”, the “psycho”, slow-tempo “The Rats And Us” and the hard n’ heavy hit “Kingdome Come”.
To cut it short, “The Lizards Rule” is an excellent pure 70’s hard rock album and the “old” fans of this music should not miss this one. As for the others, just learn that The Lizards indeed rule till now!!
